My research is primarily based at EucFACE and focuses on belowground mechanistic responses to elevated carbon dioxide and phosphorus enrichment in phosphorus-limited forest ecosystems. I investigate whether elevated carbon dioxide drives increased belowground carbon allocation to support nutrient acquisition—particularly phosphorus—in nutrient-limited forests. Given that many tropical and subtropical forests are phosphorus-limited or co-limited, this research aims to improve our understanding of how nutrient constraints mediate ecosystem responses to rising atmospheric CO₂.
